travel information center :Eurostar Business Premier Lounge St Pancras International Railway Station London

It is not really obvious that there is an upstairs lounge and I think that they need to flag that better. But saying that, once you head up you find a large, well designed and very comfortable lounge. It is less manic that downstairs, has more space to spread out and more tables – and larger area serving drinks. Continue reading this entry »

Travel Guide :The Eurostar St Pancras International Station: stunning and impressive

It is a stunning space. The renovation of the run down 150 year old station is quite spectacular. The look and drama of the new station is helped by the massive glass and steel roof (and I do mean massive). When you enter the station, you enter into this glorious open and gleaming space. It is breathtaking! Continue reading this entry »

Travel Info :When travelling from London to Paris, which is better: Eurostar Train or Flying?

The system is so inefficient and cramped and I still don’t know why they cannot have conveyor belts much longer so as you shuffle along you can get everything set instead of having to do it once you are at the front of the line. On the Eurostar, the checks are less complex and involve passing bags through one screen an yourself through another – with no need to remove laptops etc. Continue reading this entry »

Travel Info :The Channel Tunnel between the UK and Europe: a brief history

The cost was huge and the company had humongous
amounts of debt as it ran horrifically 80% over budget. It finally cost about six
billion pounds to build. The company struggled for years with many shareowners
losing the value of their investment through restructuring which had to turn debt into shares. Continue reading this entry »

But I have had a long and
varied experience of the city, from camping as a student, way back in the
summer of 1980 through to attending some very glamorous meetings at one of the
most ridiculously expensive hotels, to working and also as a tourist popping
over from London for a weekend break. Continue reading this entry »

Travel :New York Subway and Roads…getting worse or better?

But being more aware about using public transport instead of private transport to reduce environment impact – and also the improvement (in my view) of things like the bus service in London, though not top notch yet has been getting better – we decided to use the subway to get around on this trip in NYC. Travel Guide :New York: Skyscraper Museum New York: is it a towering success?

And the warning should have been there when it was clearly quiet and the bored lady on reception had a mobile phone stuck to her ear gossiping away to someone, while she put out her hand for the each entrance fee and then mumbled about going up the ramp and that the museum was on one floor. Travel Info :New York: Magnolia Bakery better than sex, and the city?

On a recent visit we went and visited one of the best known called Magnolia Cup Cakes in the Village at 401 Bleeker Street. I had high expectations, having been to the Hummingbird stores in London which have been moved across the big pond to much acclaim as well. Continue reading this entry »

travel information center :New York: Top of the Rock Rockefeller Center is a MUST do!

It costs about each and the process to get through and to the top is fairly smooth. You weave through security and then wait in one of 3 holding pens while they run three 4 minute films about the center, the history of media and the center and about being one of the famous Rockettes. Every 4 minutes one of the holding queues leaves and goes up the elevators. Continue reading this entry »
